1967 – 2016
Zuzanna Schula was one of the participants in my first prison project, Gap[Lücke]. She came from Poland with her parents and was training to be a foreign language correspondent in Germany.
At all stages of the project, she preferred to ask me questions about my life and was reluctant to tell me about her background. Her addiction began after she followed her boyfriend to Greece, where - as she said - something went wrong.
Zusanna had a clear idea of what she wanted her Gap[Lücke] to look like. After the first exhibition in the prison church, she washed her sculpture until all the clay residue was removed from the extremely thinly moulded wax. She wanted her Gap[Lücke] to be white and transparent so that the light would fall into it.
